PHILANTHROPY

We try our best to leave the world a better place. Giving back is the cornerstone of the KMD philosophy. We support a number of causes and organizations close to our hearts. Take a moment to explore some which may resonate with you.

ADOPT, DON'T SHOP!

PAWS  (PERFORMING ANIMAL WELFARE SOCIETY)
Since 1984, The Performing Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) has been at the forefront of efforts to rescue and provide appropriate, humane sanctuary for animals who have been the victims of the exotic and performing animal trades.

KMD has supported PAWS since 2012. In 2014 Kimberly was invited to visit the private sanctuary, and meet the beautiful animals in their care. Kimberly is excited to be a member of the 30th Anniversary Honorary Committee.

CHILDREN OF CONSERVATION
Children of Conservation takes a global approach to improving the survival rate of endangered species and provides assistance to the caregivers and local people whose assistance and cooperation is key to these efforts. Their main project provides educational funding for children of wildlife sanctuary workers as well as a small number of scholarships for children in communities where anti-poaching conservation messages are imperative. All children provided with scholarships are guaranteed support until they graduate.

Kimberly McDonald sits on the board at Children of Conservation.

CONSERVATION INTERNATIONAL
For more than 25 years, Conservation International has been protecting nature for the benefit of everyone on Earth.

In 2008 Kimberly created a collection of geode and diamond polar bear pieces aptly named “Ursus Maritimus,” and donated 10% of the retail sales. In 2010 she created the “Turtle” collection for the same purpose. A percentage of specific sales will continue to support Conservation International.

THE DAVID SHELDRICK WILDLIFE TRUST
The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust embraces all measures that compliment the conservation, preservation and protection of wildlife.

Don't be surprised if Kimberly adopts an orphaned elephant for you for your birthday. Since learning about this operation in Kenya, Kimberly has regularly “gifted” the support of an orphaned elephant.

SEA WEB: TOO PRECIOUS TO WEAR
Aimed at protecting the world’s precious coral, frequently used in jewelry and home décor, the “Too Precious to Wear” campaign asks consumers to make the conscious choice not to contribute to its destruction.

Kimberly has signed the “Too Precious to Wear” petition to never use coral in her designs, as well as donated a handmade fine jewelry arm band for auction to support the campaign.
